High intensity workout boosts health for people with fibromyalgia

fibromyalgia, exercise, workout, high intensity, physical activity, pain, brain, function, arthritis digestA groundbreaking study reveals that high-intensity aerobic and strength training significantly enhance the physical and emotional well-being of people with fibromyalgia and other musculoskeletal disorders.
Based on 73 people with unspecific musculoskeletal disorders, aerobic high-intensity interval training and strength training improved the participants’ peak oxygen uptake and strength. This in turn led to better physical and emotional function. And there were no negative side effects.
“Our findings suggest that high-intensity training should be implemented as a part of standard clinical care of this patient population,” the team concludes in the European Journal of Sports Science.
